The Drift Golf Meeting
Present:- Rob McCowen, Dudley Stratford, Derick Fulcher, Rick Holgate, Derek Pitt, John Waterfall, Roger Goodacre, John Fraser, Nick Budge, Chunky Goulstone, Peter Ross, Philip Ayton, Peter Robinson, Graham Croll, Tim Baldwin, Keith Jenkin and Sir Stanley Simmons.
This was a very good turn-out of 17 players, including Peter Robinson for the first time, and others who have not appeared for a while, or only at this annual event.
Whereas last year the course was only just playable because of earlier torrential rain, this year we had glorious sunshine and the course was in excellent condition.
We were competing for the Jonathan Baldwin Goblet, and were very pleased to see our president, Dudley Stratford come in first with 38 points. Second was our host, Derick Fulcher, also with 38 points but he scored fewer points on the back 9, and Rob McCowen came third with 35 points. The other events during the round were the longest drive (Philip Ayton), and nearest the pin (Rob McCowen).
Prize-giving took place over a very convivial dinner.
In the attached photographs, the first one is of everyone, the next is the trio of Nick Budge, Chunky Goulstone and Derick Fulcher (resplendent in his OHJGS blazer), next up is Dudley Stratford and Peter (Thatch) Ross, then our host Derick Fulcher presenting Philip Ayton with his bottle of wine, and finally Tim Baldwin presenting Dudley Stratford with the magnificent Jonathan Baldwin Goblet.
