The GL Mellin Salver

 

The GL Mellin Salver is the seniors version of the Halford Hewitt. The format is again scratch foursomes.

There are actually three separate competitions for golfers of different ages in which 16 school Old Boy’s societies compete.

The GL Mellin: the competition started in 1960 for competitors aged over 55. The format is three pairs from each society plays scratch foursomes knockout.

The Peter Burles: the competitors started in 1989 for competitors aged over 65.

The format is one pair from each society plays a scratch foursomes stableford round and the top 4 societies are seeded to play knockout in the semi-finals and finals.

The Bunny Millard: the competition started in 1997 for competitors aged over 75.

The format is one pair from each society plays a scratch foursomes stableford round over 16 holes from the forward tees. The top 4 societies are seeded to play knockout in the semi-finals and finals.

The competitions are played at West Hill Golf Club (Surrey) in the summer.
