Summer Meeting at RAC 29th July 2021

15 righteous OJ’s gathered at the RAC in Epsom early on Thursday morning to tuck into their bacon roll and coffee.

The Old Course was in good condition despite the huge quantity of rain that had fallen on it over the previous week.

We played singles in 3’s and our Captain, Alex Fleet, had offered prizes for nearest the pin on the 13th and 17th. Rob Huxford and Patrick McGahan were inseparable on 13th with both approximately 9 feet from the pin. However, Patrick made sure there was no doubt on the 17th as his tee shot lipped out and finished about 6 inches from the hole.

Tim Baldwin came in with 41 points to win the President’s Cup. Robert Scull (after some coaching from Rick Holgate) came second with 40 points and IPC Fraser came in third with 36.

We then had a leisurely lunch on the Terrace which was bathed in sunshine and the club wines were duly sampled.

The afternoon foursomes were made up with high/low partnerships. This suited John Waterfall and Will Carroll as they crossed the line in 1st place with 33 points. This pairing also happened to be oldest/youngest on the day with John (I hope he won’t mind me saying) giving his partner 49 years. Our President Rob McCowen and Robert Scull came in second with 31 points.

We were certainly lucky to have the sun shine on us and the general consensus was that we should return to the RAC next year.
