OHJGS Winer Meeting – Walton Heath GC – Friday 3rd December

We had a strong turn out in the  end of 23 including six guests. The weather was dry but the days challenges included 6 holes of fog that rolled in thick and fast making it tricky even for those who thought they knew the course!

Our winner with a fine 37 points was Dan Burstow with Tom Fairfax one behind on 36 and Rob Huxford rounding off his first full year playing in the society with 34. Our guests prize was taken by the scratch and very tall golfer! – James 10ft Boyle. The nearest to the pin challenges donated by Captain Fleet were gathered up by Russell Ogden on the 7th and a very proud Patrick McGahan on the 17th!

The Douglass Henderson Trophy for the best 2 scratch scores from the major 3 society rounds that we played this year (Summer at the RAC, in Epsom, Autumn at RCPGC Deal and Winter at Walton Heath) was again won by Alex Fleet who beat Jeremy Waud by 3 points on the day and 5 points overall to win with 65 scratch points – the same as in 2020.

We were also pleased to partake to wine from the Jenkin Jug for the first time, the claret jug was bought by the society from money left to us by our great friend and OHJGS stalwart, Keith Jenkin, who sadly passed away earlier this year. We have rebooked the event for Friday 2nd December 2022 – put it in your diary.
