OHJGS v The College Pyecombe GC 28th June 2018

On a bright and very breezy summer’s day 8 OJ’s took on the College at Pyecombe GC, the scene of the first gathering of OJ’s playing golf together 90 years ago. A year later the Society was officially formed and is going from strength to strength.

The College fielded several low handicap players (including a 0.7) and started well winning the first match.

The OJ’s had 2 members of staff (also OJ’s) playing for them. Scott Simkins and Will Carroll managed to get the afternoon off away from exams.

The breeze made the sun scorched course a very stern test which I am pleased to report the OJ’s used all of their vast experience to win the remaining 3 matches and regain the Henwood Salver.

Sam Sullivan won the Hurst Cup with a very impressive performance.

The OJ’s invited the College team members to join them at Royal Ashdown Forest on 3rd August at our Summer Meeting. Please apply on the link below to join in. Spaces are still available.

The following played for the OJ’s:-  Rob McCowen, Rick Holgate, Patrick McGahan, Bob Carter, John Fraser, Will Carroll, Scott Simkins and Graham Negus. We look forward to welcoming the next generation of OJ golfers to Royal Ashdown.
