OHJGS V Old Eastbournians – 30th Anniversary March at Walton Heath

Our 30th anniversary and 29th annual fixture with our friends from Eastbourne was its usual jovial but competitive affair, this year featuring many of our ‘senior members’……….

I am delighted to report that we prevailed with a 4/2 victory and strong performances from Secretary GJ and Rob Huxford winning 6/4, Captain Alex Taylor partnered by Mat Isepp won with an even greater margin involving Canine licencing, followed by Jeremy Waud and IIP John Fraser on 5/3 with President McCowen and Andrew Heath delivering a much needed 2 up win on the 18th green having been 5 up at one point!

The overall stats for the 30 years read favourably for us with 17 wins against 7 for the OE’s and 5 matches that were drawn

The customary formal dinner in the Fowler Room for all 24 competitors was an entertaining affair with post match summaries and leg pulling from Jeremy Waud and Chris Walker. If you haven’t played in this four ball better ball match before get your name down early for the 2023 event which will be on the 19th or 20th May.
