OHJGS Summer Meeting 4^th August 2017

held at Royal Ashdown Golf Club

In attendance:

Christian Wimshurst (Vice Captain), Graham Negus, Patrick McGahan, Alex Fleet, Dan Burstow,   Mike Harrison, Harun Cordan, Matt Isepp, Ed Welch, Jeremy Rawlins, Rick Holgate, John Fraser, Steve Waud and guests Mike Wimshurst, Edward Hodgkin and David Morris.

We were pleased to welcome Matt Isepp, appearing for his first OJ golf event.

Again we were blessed with excellent weather and the 2 courses were in superb condition. In the morning singles on the Old Course the President’s Cup was won by John Fraser with 39 points, followed by Dan Burstow with 37 points. Third was Patrick McGahan with 34 points. Dan won the scratch prize (33 points) and John Fraser the veteran’s prize.

After a fantastic lunch of lamb shank and treacle pudding we all ventured onto the West Course to play foursomes for the Stratford Tazzas. The winning pair was John Fraser and Patrick McGahan with 37 points, and second was Graham Negus and Steve Waud with 36 points.

Prize giving took place as usual on the balcony overlooking the putting green. In addition to the prizes for the day the Secretary, Rick Holgate, presented John Fraser with the new President’s Tankard, replacing the former Veteran’s Tankard for the Spring Meeting. The old tankard had been presented to Dudley Statford to keep, as there was no further space available to engrave more names and he had been the last winner.
