Norfolk Tour Report
Ruddlesdin is Senior Winner of Norfolk Tour
Paul Ruddlesdin restored his status as OHJGS Senior Champion Golfer of the Year with an impressive performance throughout the Norfolk Tour. Once again based in Swaffham, the tourers played at Swaffham, Royal West Norfolk and Thetford.
Paul’s consistent play at Swaffham and Thetford was augmented with a very special performance at RWNGC, where he secured 38 points off his 13 handicap. This key round ensured his overall success by a clear margin, with 106 points aggregate over the three competitions.
His closest challengers were our Antipodean visitors, Tony Travers (Australia) with 98 points and Martin Dancy (New Zealand) just one point behind with 97 total. Interestingly each of these players each of these players have regular handicaps in their countries where the “slope” system re-evaluates players over all their golf. A message here perhaps for the inconsistency of handicaps here in the UK, which OHJGS is addressing individually with the new and revised “society” analysis scheme.
Another individual high score was returned by Society Captain, Michael Tims, with an impressive 37 points to win the Thetford competition, after Travers and Dancy had also tied in first place at Swaffham with 37 points apiece.
By popular demand the Norfolk Tour will return in 2020 during 15-17 June.
