2023 Spring Meeting at West Sussex GC

On a warm spring day, 20 OJ’s and 2 guests met at West Sussex GC for the Spring Meeting on 3rd May. The course was in excellent condition as always and there were some good scores.

The morning Stableford competition for the Gibbs Cup was won by Mark Baldock with 41 points off 10 handicap. Runner up was Rob Willsdon with 37 points off 12 handicap. Rick Holgate (15) won the President’s Tankard for the Seniors (over 60) with 35 points. The Scratch prize was shared by Mark Baldock and Christian Wimshurst who both scored gross 75s.

After a full lunch and wine kindly provided by the Captain, Matt Isepp, served in the Jenkin Jug, the foursomes competition was played for the Petherbridge Bowl. This was won by Rob Huxford (6) and Sam Worlidge (12) with 36 points. Runners up were Charlie Parsons (+2) and and Rick Holgate with 30 points.

Vice Captain, Rob Huxford, presented the prizes on the terrace. This is one of the most popular events in the OHJGS calendar and it was great to see some of our successful Hewitt players joining the day together with several younger members of the Society.
